Proclamation - is an official written decree or designation issued only by the Village President designating a day, week, month or year for in recognition of a particular person, cause, organization or event.

February 16 Public Works Award

Public Works Director Stavros presented the Board with the American Public Works Association Project Award which was given to the Village of Wheeling by the Suburban Branch of the Public Works Association.

 
February 22 Police Chief John Stone Award Award presented to Police Chief John Stone from the Wheeling Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and Citizens Patrol

The Wheeling Citizens Police Academy presented Chief Stone with an additional award in appreciation of his support.
 
February 24 Charles (Jay) Gallant, Jr. Day Fire Chief MacIsaac said a few words about Jay’s time with the Wheeling Fire Department and thanked him for his years of service to the Village of Wheeling.  
March 18 Nancy Rottman Day Manager Sfondilis informed everyone that Nancy Rottman was unable to attend the meeting. Director Stavros accepted the plaque on her behalf.  
April Sexual Assault Awareness Month President Abruscato presented the plaque to Angela Burrell of the Wheeling Police Department.  
April 5 Public Works "Project of the Year Award" Public Works Association. Manager Sfondilis presented a plaque to the Village Board from the American Public Works Association. The plaque is an award for Project of the Year for the Village’s Public Works building. President Abruscato gave the plaque to Director of Public Works Stavros to hang in their building.  
April 11-17 National Public Safety Telecommunication’s Week President Abruscato presented the plaque to Commander Wisnewski.  
April 11-17 Week of the Young Child Clerk Simpson read the proclamation in its entirety.  
April 12 Hieber honored for volunteer service to Wheeling Police volunteer George Hieber was honored with the Illinois TRIAD Senior Volunteer of the Year Award.

April 13 John Stone Day Deputy Chief Benson said a few words about Chief Stone’s time with the Wheeling Police Department and thanked him for his years of service to the Village of Wheeling.  
April 18-24 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week President Abruscato presented the plaque to Angela Burrell of the Wheeling Police Department.  
April 18-24 Law Enforcement Training Week President Abruscato presented the plaque to the members of ILEETA who were present at the meeting.  
April 30 Arbor Day President Abruscato presented the plaque to Lori Hazlewood of the Public Works Department.  
May Building Safety Month President Abruscato presented the plaque to Angela Burrell of the Wheeling Police Department.  
May 1 Silver Star Banner Day Clerk Simpson read the proclamation in its entirety.  
May 3 Wheeling Jr. Wildcats Girls 7th Grade Basketball Team Award President Abruscato presented the plaque to the girl’s basketball team.  
May 11 Robert Leipzig Day Fire Chief MacIsaac said a few words about Bob’s tenure in the Wheeling Fire Department and thanked him for his years of service to the Village of Wheeling.  
May 9 - 16 Peace Officers Memorial Day & National Police Week Peace Officers Memorial Day & National Police Week – May 9-16, 2010. Clerk Simpson read the proclamation in its entirety. President Abruscato presented the plaque to Police Chief Benson.  
May 13 Senior Celebration Day President Abruscato presented the plaque to Senior Services Director Shari Huizar.  
May 16 - 23 National Public Works Week President Abruscato presented the plaque to Public Works Director Anthony Stavros.  
June 1 Anthony Stavros – 40th Anniversary of Employment President Abruscato presented the plaque to Tony Stavros.  
June 1 William Straub Day President Abruscato presented the plaque to the Director of Public Works to present to Mr. Straub.  
June 1 Wheeling High School – Fairchild Challenge President Abruscato presented the plaque to the winners of the Fairchild Challenge  
June 1 Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award Assistant Finance Director Walczak briefly explained to everyone what this award was for.  
June 5 Wheeling High School Debate Team. President Abruscato presented the plaque to the Wheeling High School Debate Team.  
June 7 Jeff Kopper Day Clerk Simpson read the proclamation in its entirety. President Abruscato presented the plaque to Jeff Kopper.  
July 12 Michael Porzycki Day Mike started his employment with PD on 7/8/2004, ,and after 22 years of dedicated service, he will be retiring.
July 18 Christine Brady Day Directors Mondschain and Janeck said a few words about Christine’s employment at the Village of Wheeling and thanked her for her years of service to the Village of Wheeling.  
July 20 Kenneth (Rick) Sheffler Day Chief Stone said a few words about Rick’s time with the Wheeling Police Department and thanked him for his years of service to the Village of Wheeling.  
August 8 Daniel Suerth Day Fire Chief MacIsaac said a few words about Daniel’s time with the Wheeling Fire Department and thanked him for his years of service to the Village of Wheeling.  
August 9 Keith Plummer Police Chaplain is retiring after 9 years of service to pursue a life ling goal.
